Instahit Blackcurrant Drops

Dark, tart blackcurrant that gets deeper rather than sweeter as the cigarette burns. The fruit is up front, a cool edge runs underneath it, and the finish is dry — the opposite of a boiled sweet. Of our two fruits this is the bolder one: where strawberry is bright and light, blackcurrant is heavy, a little sharp, and it lasts longer on the tongue.

This is the one to order if strawberry reads too sweet to you. It has the weight of dark fruit without the sugar, and it holds its own against a full-strength cigarette instead of disappearing into it — which is why it tends to be the evening choice rather than the all-day one. Two drops is where it gets rich.

One drop in the centre of the filter, five minutes, or straight away on a recessed filter.
